Oh how I miss Kyle. It's getting really hard being away from him. I'm realizing more and more each day how applicable this song is. "Hey There Delilah" by Plain White T's:

Hey there Delilah
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl, tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true

Hey there Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice, it's my disguise
I'm by your side

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me

Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me, girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good

Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me

A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame

Hey there Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here's to you
This one's for you

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me.

lyrics: http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/plainwhitets/heytheredelilah.html
video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg5Bib_ql3M

Branching out

Hi Ladies-

So. I'm going to my 2nd EVER concert of my life. It's Sara Bareilles, but more important Raining Jane is opening for her. I'm super excited about it, but even more exciting is that I branched out and decided to try and invite a "friend" instead of going by myself (which I thought would be not good). I put friend in quotations, because it takes a while for me to start making friends (because mostly I consider people acquaintances), but I think this is a significant step in my law school development. So the girl I asked (Jen) said yes so I'm really excited.

Shocking, I know...

Ok. So I haven't posted in like a year, but Jessica (Guinn) said that I should at least post once a month, and since I haven't really been following that I'm going with a few times a semester.

So, my first law school exam is over!!!!! It's been a stressful week (6-weeks really), but it's almost over (I just need to finish a paper due tomorrow worth 20% of my grade in larc, 20 pages (which may seem deceiving because that takes between 4-6 hours) of reading for my class at 2pm, 20 pages of reading for my class tomorrow, and another research assignment due Saturday morning...and to think, all this work makes me feel like I have a light load). I studied for a while for this midterm, which was intense, but luckily it really doesn't count for much. It was more practice, but I tried to pretend it was real. It will count for 1/3 of our final grade if we do better on it than the final exam, but won't count for anything if we do better on the final exam than on the mid-term.

Anyways, I leave for So. Cal. to visit Kyle on Saturday morning (which really means I need to finish that research assignment tomorrow night) for my Spring Break. In addition to looking forward to seeing him I am looking forward to going to our favorite Sushi place! While this break will be good for me in the sense that I will probably get a full night's sleep, the term spring break is really a misnomer. I will be studying over "break" too, preparing outlines for the final exam, and *hopefully* getting ahead in some of my classes so that I will be in a good position when I get back.

P.S. I e-mailed Alex some sheet music and she hasn't responded...anyone know if she's alive?

well...

so, Maui's great. except apparently I'm not allowed to have any fun with my niece. I'm not allowed to call her any nicknames (JJ, etc) and I'm not allowed to call her silly names (goofball, munchkin, etc.) because her parents (and mine) are no-fun stuck in the mud assholes. tell me, what's the point in having a niece if you can't have fun with her? anyways, I think it's ridiculous!!! sorry, just needed to vent a little. I can't believe they just chewed me out for calling her those names! I mean, really! it's not going to hinder her development in any way. In fact I think we all turned out pretty good and we were called those names.

Vegas Baby!

Okay. So. I don't know who I've told about this thus far, but I know I haven't talked to any of you since, so here is a summary of my AMAZING weekend.

For those of you who don't know it was Kyle's 20th birthday on the 19th, so I decided to give him a fabulous birthday. And I came up with the following idea: VEGAS!!!! (AND I DIDN'T TELL HIM....and if you know me, you'll know that I can't really keep anything from him). So, I booked a hotel room and planned some stuff for us to do, and it was wonderful.

It's a tradition for Kyle to have waffles the morning of his birthday, so we started the day (Friday was the 19th) with waffles at Coco's at 10:30 am. Then we got back in the car and I told him that I hadn't really seen any of the scenery around the San Bernardino, so I told him we were just going to go for a drive for a little while. But really I kidnapped him....mwahahaha. He totally believed me, and was just enjoying the scenery for a REALLY long time. The whole while I'm cracking up in the drivers seat asking him what he's thinking. He says things like, "wow, I'm really happy we're doing this. It's not like you to just drive, but it's really nice!" So we pass about 10 road signs on the side of the freeway that say "Vegas 222", "Vegas 190", "Vegas 160", etc. It's not for TWO hours until we pass an overhead sign that has 3 arrows pointing down with a big "VEGAS" that Kyle then proceeded to ask, "Hun, what's in Vegas?" I replied with, "I don't know, Casinos?" At this point I was pretty much laughing hysterically 'cause I actually had him fooled for 2 hours.

At that point Kyle started to look really upset. He asked why we were going. And I told him it was because I was taking him for his birthday. He proceeded to get more agitated, and at that point I got really upset and was like, "Look, I planned this whole weekend packed with activities and fun stuff, and a hotel. Why are you so mad that you're going?? I told you to keep this time free!!" He then started to look really excited and he said, "wait, we're going to do stuff?......I thought you were taking me to get married." So after his relief that I wasn't going to elope with him he started to get REALLY excited, and asked what we were going to do. So I told him. After that he couldn't wait to get to Vegas.

So, we got there at about 2pm, and checked into our hotel. We stayed at the Tropicana (located ON the strip), in the tower room (one of the most expensive), with a WONDERFUL view of the strip and the Excalibur hotel. We got settled in and went across the street to pick up our tickets for the show we were seeing that evening: The Tournament of Kings. It's a medieval "play" of Kings of different nations fighting on horseback and jousting. The show started at 6 pm, and it was amazing. We got food and we had to eat it with our hands. Merlin said happy birthday to Kyle. And there was a little person (playing the jester) who kept making fun of Kyle. They taught us to cheer and stuff. Then, the Merlin picked Kyle, Me, and the guy next to me to stand up in front of the whole arena and do the cheer by ourselves, with the spotlight on us. Anyways I can't explain the amazingness of the experience, but it was GREAT!!!!

After that we walked around the strip for a little bit, but then decided to go to the hotel because I had bought/had someone else buy some champy for us to celebrate and get a little drunky drunk. So we did that, then walked a little more around the strip, apparently, not only do they not give "drunk in public" tickets, you can also just carry alcohol and it's fine!!! but we didn't.

The next day we saw a magic show (I wanted to see Penn and Teller, but they were sold out, so we saw Dirk Arthur) which was a ton of fun. Unfortunately I had to be on duty Saturday night, so we left around 3pm. But it was truely one of the best weekends of my life, and we tons of mementos and memories from it!

Yay. That's it.
